1. A certain webpage is not showing up in the "Content" section but is live on the site. I refresh my browser so I know it's not just cached (also tried it on another computer and the page is there but does not exist in the "Content"
2. I cannot get document types in the "Settings" to show up in the "Content Section". I have selected parent nodes under "Structure" to allow the pages to be displayed but it is not properly refelcting against the "Content" sections.
So, clearly, something is not right. Any help super appreciated.
The two must be related. So I imagine I cannot see my published page because the content sections is not properly pulling the document types. My published (but missing from content) webpage is based on a document type that is not showing up in the list of document types to select.
What version of Umbraco are you using and is it a clean install or an updated install?
When you're having trouble in the backoffice like this it's often related to permission issues. Try and give network service and iusr full access on the umbraco root folder and inherit these settings all the way down...does this help? (You can always adjust afterwards if you need to).
Otherwise it might be worth the try to empty the Clientdepency cache perhaps?
It is 4.5.x and was a clean install. It seemed to happen overnight. I had a page called "traneefaq" that used the "cascade" document type and "cascade" template. Today, (I don't know if it was because I copied a different document type) I went to "Content" and no matter how I changed which child nodes could be displayed under "Settings", it would not reflect in the "Content" section. It only shows 4 document types (and under every parent and child document type I have them all selected). The "cascade" document type and template are there under "Settings" but are not under "Content".
So, since "cascade" is not showing, I imagine that's why my "traneefaq" page (which uses the "cascade" document type) is not listed but the page is live and works.
What do you mean by give network service and iusr full access. How do I empty the Clientdepency cache? (will try to in the meantime).
Oh, so you can see the document types in the settings section in the document type folder? Then I'm not sure it's related to permission settings.
Are you 100% sure that no one has messed with the structure tab on the document type that defines what document types can be created/moved to exist under it?
I am the only one who has access (currently using it) and have selected all of the possible document types as allowed child nodetypes and I have unselected all - in every parent/child document type. And in the Content section, the list does not change (I deleted one of the document types and it no longer appears but that is the only way to see a change under the "Content" section).
I can see templates in the Content section (under the Properties tab) - that part works ok. But I cannot change which Document Types can be selected. I even created a new document type with no parent just to see if I could copy the others and start a new list - but even this will not allow me to select a new document type under the "Content" section.
Thanks for your input so far, Jan. Appreciating it.
I have no problem creating a new document type; it works like it always have. I can create templates, etc. Everything works fine in the Settings section.
I can save the settings, log out, come back and all of the settings remain the same. The changes just will not apply to the Content Section (extremely frustrating)
Ok.... I now know what is going on. The "Content" section is pulling the "Structure" properties from the wrong document type. Currently, it is pulling allowed document types from the "Homepage" document type - NOT the Base or Content Master document types(its parent). So, when I copied a document type, it somehow messed up what structure properties it should be using.
How do I fix this? Do I have to delete all document types and start document types from scratch?
Troubles in "Content" and "Settings"
Hi,
I seem to have two problems.
Any help super appreciated.

the ClientDependency cahe is already empty....
Oh, the one in the temp folder was not. Deleted, nothing changed.

Hi Chris
Can you perhaps post a screendump of what you see when you try to create a new document type?

Hi Chris
What does the structure tab look like? You should be able to fix it in there on the copied document type
/Jan
makes no sense....
is working on a reply...
