    Service unavailable 503

    Hi!

Suddenly one of my sites (of course the most important one right now) crasches and displays
HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable. The strange thing is that it did not happen when I was fiddleling with site but when i was home, just checking everything is ok.

I suppose this is all related to my host (binero.se) that I use?

But is it SOMETHING that I could do to see if something happened with Umbraco that might be the problem?
I have a couple of usercontrols on the site but this problem happens even when i try to reach the admin.

In the log, all I see is this:

    [UmbracoExamine] Error optimizing Lucene index,background merge hit exception: _17c:c218 _17d:c1 _17e:c1 _17f:c1 _17g:c1 _17h:c1 _17i:c1 _17j:c1 _17k:c1 into _197 [optimize] [mergeDocStores], IndexSet: InternalMemberIndexSet

[UmbracoExamine] (InternalIndexer) Index is being optimized
[UmbracoExamine] Adding examine event handlers for index providers: 2

    Loading content from disk cache...

    Application started at 2011-03-24 01:20:31

When I wait some time and go to the website again (about 2 hours) It starts to load as if it was about to start, the login windows displays but not entirely and when i try to log in the 503 pops up.

Another strange thins is that I have more sites on same server (Bineros Plesk) and they all goes down when my "important site" goes down. Shouldnt they be in another app-pool?

We are also having the same problem on our dev sites. We get Connection Timeout errors. After a day's work and hundreds of requests on the dev server, the site suddenly freaked out!

Ok, after reading this post, we deleted everything under TEMP and it resolved. The question is: How should we handle this when te issue arises on production? Also, is it a Database issue?

Ok, it is possible to turn examineindex off someway if that is the reason?

Examine indexing is used for the Internal Umbraco searching and Member searching so if you turn it off you will lose this.

If you are using Plesk I woud be aware that changing permissions on one site seems to change permissions on other sites which could lead to the problems you are describing.

Probably not much help right now but we ended up ditching plesk and moving servers.

I would double and triple check your permissions (even though they might have been correct before).

I'm having the same issue, but not using Examine search on the front-end. Would deleting the contents of the TEMP folder be the resolution despite this?

The website has been deployed on my client's server and they don't have anything in a stack trace to assist. Any other advice you guys can provide? Thanks!
