I have just installed 4.7 to give it a spin locally since we have a new project at work where we'll be using it.
It seems to me that the installer still has a few bugs. I'm writing in here before submitting on codeplex to make sure others were able to reproduce this to avoid spamming the issue tracker more than neccesary.
So...what happened?
When I came to the screen where I should enter my password for the site I entered only 1 character in both fields, which resulted in the "password to short" notification.
Then I wrote a password containing 4 characters in the first box and by accident hit "next". I thought it would cause the installer to just tell me that the passwords did not match but instead this completed my installation.
After the install I was able to login to the backoffice using only my 1 character password.
Just played around with a CESQL install of 4.7 now.
I was also able to create the user with only a single character password.
However I was not able to write 4 character in the first box and 1 in the next and then create the user. Or vice versa. But if I only have 1 character in both fields the user is created.
I'm going to test a new 4.7 install again on MSSQL to see if I can reproduce what I mentioned yesterday.
Just tested again on a fresh install with 4.7 on MSSQL.
Turns out it's also possible to complete the installation here with just a single character password. Don't know if this qualifies as a bug? But if the text is to be taken litterally I suppose it should be reported as a bug?
Password bug in 4.7 install
Hi folks
I have just installed 4.7 to give it a spin locally since we have a new project at work where we'll be using it.
It seems to me that the installer still has a few bugs. I'm writing in here before submitting on codeplex to make sure others were able to reproduce this to avoid spamming the issue tracker more than neccesary.

Can anyone else reproduce this?

Hi Jan,
Just tried to reproduce that issue... but couldn't.
I entered a 1-character password - got the "too short" message (but I could still create the user).
Then I tried again, first entering a 1-character password, then a 4-character password ... but only the 4-character password worked!
Are you able to reproduce the issue? I've used SQLCE4 for my test.
Cheers, Lee.
Hi Lee
Thanks for the response.
Will test again later today.
Forgot to mention I experienced this on a MSSQL install.
Cheers
