    404 error when accessing site.com/umbraco

    Hi all,

When I try to access the umbraco backend via site.com/umbraco I get a 404 error. When I use site.com/umbraco/umbraco.aspx it is OK.

    I have custom 404 errors set up. Running 4.5.2 on IIS7, web server 2008 R2 and asp.net 3.5.

    Thanks!

    Max

you have to use site.com/umbraco/ (mind the trailing slahs)

    Cheers,

I don't if something has been changed in the newer versions of Umbraco.. I have a site which use Umbraco 4.5.x and .NET 3.5 where I get a 404 error when I access site.com/umbraco but on site.com/umbraco/ it redirect to the login page.

In a newer version Umbraco 4.7 and .NET 4.0 when I access site.com/umbraco it redirect to the login page, where I don't need the last trailing slash.

I suppose that makes sense actually because the user may want to have a node called umbraco. adding the trailing slash takes them into the sub folder which is not highjacked by default.aspx and redirected to a node.

I mistakenly thought it was a bug, thanks for the posts :)

It's a paradox but I believe that the login problem has a log out solution.

Several times after having lauched my umbraco site with Webmatrix
if I try to login using the following url, I just end up on a 404 page.

         http://localhost:12345/umbraco

It's seems that this has something to do with the way one actually closed the internet
navigator and webmatrix (and possibly move the directory where files are)
without having first logged out from the admin panel.

At least what worked for me is to actually log in mentionning
the complete name of the login file, with the extension

         http://localhost:48979/umbraco/login.aspx

After having logged in once this way. If I carefully log out using the logout_admin button
on the admin panel and stopping the site within Webmatrix, then
I'm again able to log in using the url mentionned before.
