Content picker and media picker are empty on server-side.

    Hello!

    umbraco v 4.7.0 (Assembly version: 1.0.4090.38017)

    webserver: Microsoft IIS

    ASP.NET version: 4.0

Some of my document types have content and media pickers. It works fine for local copy of site - in content/media picker pop-up menu i can see tree and i can choose the node i need, but on server-side pop-up menu is empty.

What could it be? Any ideas?

p.s. first i thought it could be permission issue, so i wrote to webhosting support, but they said that i have full write permission to all folders, so that shouldn't be a problem

p.p.s. reading forum threads i noticed, that sometimes it is important to mention webhosting. so i use unoeuro.

    Thanks.

    JJ.

    Hi Jelena

Are you certain that all files have been copied to the server? And have you had a look in the umbracoLog table to see if it provides some usefull information? You could also try to turn on fiddler to see what is going on.

@Atoosa: Are you experiencing the exact same issue as above? And is your site hosted on a webhost or do you run your own server?

    /Jan

    Hi!

After my first post i kind of gave up  in solving this problem, so i was updating media/content pickers in my local copy and then just updating server side.
But some time ago magic happend and one day it just started to work properly! I have no idea what happened, cause i wasn't touching my website for a long time.
And i am pretty sure, that i ve been copied all files to the server side!

Jan, thanks for your reply! If i will face this problem again i'll definitely follow your tips.
Atoosa, sorry for not being helpful! But try what i did about permissions and what Jan suggested! and good luck with that.

    Hi Atoosha

Have you double checked your permissions?

Also try to see if something is written in the umbracoLog table to see if it provides some usefull information.

You can also try to use firebug and see if some files are missing or if some javascript is throwing an error.

Let us know what you find out.

    /Jan

    Hi again

Is this issue in the media folder the same you have in this post? http://our.umbraco.org/forum/using/ui-questions/27886-Users-tree-is-blank?p=0#comment106006

If so I'm afraid I'm running out of ideas on what could be the cause of this...

The permissions you have set...are they inherited from the Umbraco root folder and all the way down to the last level?

    /Jan

    To Jan.

No that's different. but i'm thinking maybe both are caused by the same issue.

when i click on a content or media picker, the popup menu is blank, similar to the one described here.

    thanks.
