While updating jQuery should be straightforward, I think TinyMCE may prove a little more complex. The version included in Umbraco is somewhat customized, and when you compare the stock Tiny v3.4 to Umbraco Tiny v3.4 (try diff!) you'll find a lot of differences. There's even an "umbraco-implementation-notes.txt" file that explains all the hoops you need to jump through in order to arrive at an Umbraco version :-)
Not saying it can't be done (we successfully upgraded CodeMirror from the ancient 0.94 to 2.16), but seems like there's at least some work involved in upgrading. In case you go through the process and arrive at a patch - please share, would love to upgrade too!
I want to upgrade the jquery files shipped with umbraco (< v7.5.x) to jquery 2.2.4 to fix an vulnerability reported with the jquery versions less than 2.2.4.
can i do it without umbraco version up-gradation to 7.5.x ? or only the umbraco up-gradation is the possible solution ?
Why not update jquery and tinymce to latest version?
jquery 1.6.4 is only a bug fixed version to 1.6.2 in Umbraco 4.7.1, I think you can update it no problem.
tinymce 3.4.6 may include some small new features, but it has fixed a lot of bugs from 3.4 in Umbraco 4.7.1, I think you should update them.

While updating jQuery should be straightforward, I think TinyMCE may prove a little more complex. The version included in Umbraco is somewhat customized, and when you compare the stock Tiny v3.4 to Umbraco Tiny v3.4 (try diff!) you'll find a lot of differences. There's even an "umbraco-implementation-notes.txt" file that explains all the hoops you need to jump through in order to arrive at an Umbraco version :-)
Not saying it can't be done (we successfully upgraded CodeMirror from the ancient 0.94 to 2.16), but seems like there's at least some work involved in upgrading. In case you go through the process and arrive at a patch - please share, would love to upgrade too!

I want to upgrade the jquery files shipped with umbraco (< v7.5.x) to jquery 2.2.4 to fix an vulnerability reported with the jquery versions less than 2.2.4.
can i do it without umbraco version up-gradation to 7.5.x ? or only the umbraco up-gradation is the possible solution ?
