    Translation faulty method

Recently, together with a coworker,  I've been creating 2 corporate pages that should be translated to few languages. The idea was to make a separate structure for each language:

    content:

          -en

          -fr

          -de

    etc.

This way we would have nice urls for google and one xml-to-translate-each-xml functionality.

Did it all, translated and then tried to apply translations.

We went to the page ' umbraco/umbraco.aspx#translation ' and tried to upload complete xml into correct language. We were completely surprised to find out that only 1 task per whole xml is imported!! We've had like 500 of them in the xml!

Client was ready to kill us, having a vision of creating separate 500 nodes in separated xmls files!

But, one moment with reflector and we found out that umbraco.presentation.translation.importTranslationFile method is , well, designed to import just one task at a time (do you believe that?). The foreach is just buggy.

I don't know where I should report that, but I'm really surprised that no one found that before.

How do you translate your sites anyway??

    p.s.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate umbraco creators and their hard work.

But for a moment, this bug really decreased umbraco in my eyes. Imagine someone without developer skill to fix that and recompile the sources and having such tight deadlines as we did...

    p.s. 2

Where can I fix that? Or is that not a bug, but a feature?

    Hi,

You can submit bugs and patches for Umbraco at the Codeplex site: http://www.codeplex.com/umbraco

    Hi Slawekg,

this is an old post, but maybe you'll get this message:

I'm also struggling to see how to efficiently use Umbraco's multi-language and translation facilities. Would like to get in contact with you...

    Nick
