I have recently discovered Umbraco and am absolutely in love.
With such an amazing product, why is our.umbraco.com so bad? I got an aspx error page when trying to sign up. The overall site is ridden with bugs. Has this been addressed?
Happy to hear that you enjoy Umbraco and I'm pretty sure you're going to like the community as well.
Regardings our and bugs...yeah the forum is getting old and bugs occur now and then. Even critical ones like the one you experienced during the signup. The thing is that the forum was build in 2009 on a 3 or 4 day retreat where the Umbraco MVP's of 2009 and Umbraco core members + a handful of other persons had a pre-retreat before CodeGarden that year. Back then Our was state of the art. But as you probably know 5 years is like a life time in the software business.
So Our really needs an overhaul and the intention is there, but unfortunately not the time or the resources. HQ are hiring new people but there are a lot of tasks that needs to be taken care of and Our is one of them. But as you probably know by know Umbraco is open source and you can contribute to the CMS by forking it from Github and making pull requests.
The same goes for Our Umbraco, which you can find here if you would like to contribute https://github.com/umbraco/OurUmbraco - Another way to help the project is by adding issues about bugs on Our (And of course in Umbraco as well) on the issue tracker here http://issues.umbraco.org/issues - Make sure to tag the bugs reported with our or umbraco if you're going to submit a bug report.
I hope this sheds a light on why Our seems a bit broken sometimes - But it was build with love way back then...and now it's struggling to keep up unfortunately. But I hope you will take the time to file a bug report about the issue you had signing up.
And then I hope that in the future there will be a roadmap towards a new version of Our - I have been wanting to contribute to this myself but having a hard time to find the spare time myself unfortunately. I think it would be easier if there was a roadmap, some guidelines and some tasks at hand so it would be easier for people to contribute if they wanted to.
But please don't let your first impression scare you away - Our is the place to find the answer to your question and people are really friendly and helpful.
Umbraco so good but Our Umbraco so bad...

Surprised to see such a poorly programmed site.
