Guy's I'm scratching my head with a problem with one of my live sites. I have one user who cannot log into his account. When he tries to log in, the screen just cycles back to the log in page. I'm pretty certain it's not a problem of wrong password because he's not getting the angry shaking red boxes. On the other hand I'm able to log in using his account I get in fine.
Last night I upgraded to 4.0.3 running on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 and SQL Server 2005.
Jay - He's a user, type Administrator, with access to Content and media both starting at the root. I've created several accounts for him which made no difference. I also checked that he's not being redirected to canvas.
We've also tried using the IP address.
I've also just watched him doing his thing and it looks to me like he actually logged in ok and was redirected to the logout page immediately.
Just to bounce this to the top of the list again this problem seems to be affecting many of my sites on the same server and is affecting Member login pages as well as user login to the backend.
Problem with user login on Live Server

I'd say that it is either browser related or possibly dns, given that you can log in..
Has he tried a different browser?
Tried Chrome and IE to no avail. Also tried clearing cache to see if that had any effect.
is he a user or member?
check his rights
get him to try logging in with a diff account
access the site by IP if possible in case it is dns resolution
not much else i can think of without knowing exact config
hmm, maybe check 'Redirect to canvas on login' and also that he's not being redirected on login to non-existent content item

The only other thought I had - have you done a view source, run firebug etc when he is logging in/has logged in to see what is happening?
Without seeing the full setup I'm a bit stumped now, sorry.
Anyone else ?
Funny thing - when we installed firebug the problem disappeared. But carried on in Chrome.
