I think there should be an entry somewhere that exaplains this.
Clearly Karma is a great way of encouraging user behaviours which are desirable as opposed to those which should be discouraged (much like Stackoverflow.com)
However, what actions result in increased Karma? Is it just forum posts, what if I add something to he Wiki, does that give me Karma? Also if a Wiki post gives you Karma points, what about editing. If I edit somone elses Wiki post do I get Karma for that (negative or positive)?
I'm curious about how the karma points work for the wiki. If I added a page which is then edited by someone else - who gets the karma points? Me (the page creator)? or the editor/contributor? or both?
Then if you were to get karma points for contributing/editing wiki pages - it is left open to be gamed. Someone could do a lot of minor edits to popular pages. So many questions.
No authors or contributors get karma points from wiki pages, it is too easy to game, and how would the points be devided? should the guy who started page get just as many points as the one who fixed a small spelling error?
We considered all the ways it could be gamed and how it could benifit our.umb, and ended up with deciding not award wiki contributors points, only points to the page itself.

How does Karma work?

There is two hands on each post, I think they increase/decrease karma, but I don't know anything about wiki editing.

Adding bugs to codeplex also should increase Karma. But I think is't hard to implement.

@Per - so only forum and projects?
I've got the Karma stuff on the our.umbraco FAQ (http://our.umbraco.org/wiki/about/ourumbraco-faq) can you ensure what I've got about Karma right
yup only forum topics and comments, and projects.
You can still vote on a wikipage but none of the authors will get points.
I've added a bit of extra text to the wiki page
is working on a reply...
