I like the tagging stuff that has been made on the project page. It's really nice.
But am I the only one missing the option to choose to see all projects? Besides from that it's cool and something that I think will be very usefull to people visiting.
Guys, I'm not a fan of the new project page.It seems more restrictive than the last one.
Who determines the tags? Is this based on project description content or user tags?
What about the suggested different options for sort by rating, downloads, category (ok tagging to some extent), etc.
Nice attempt, but not the ideal. With such a great community, why didn't the core/umbraco team just ask what the community would like to see? This would have been better than the big-bang change that has happened.
I personally don't like the new layout either. You have to make to many clicks to find a particular project. Would have been nice to see the projects layed out in a category type view.
@Chris: It was actually based on feedback from this forum, not a big bang! People found that the project list grew too big and was already hard to navigate (with more projects starting every week). We choose tagging over categories as we don't have good experiences with categories in the Package Repository (they either become too narrow or too broad to make sense).
Tags are determined by project owners and moderators and as more projects gets tagged it'll work better. We still have the best rated and new projects below the tags and when the downloads stats have been gathered for a couple of days we'll add that view as well.
We're experimenting with the layout on our dev pages to make sure that we can squeeze as many options as possible - so what you see is not static but will be adjusted as it gets used.
Lastly, if you ask you'll get a ton of different wishes anyway. You and skiltz would like categories but as mentioned, feedback from the repo tells us that it doesn't work ideal either. We think that tagging is the most flexible and involving solution. Give it a little time (or just click the browse all link - that'll make it work like old days).
The new project page

I definitely agree with Jan, the new stuff with tagging etc. is really great, but I'm trly missing the ability to browse all projects.

Obvious - why didn't we think of that. It's added now, thanks!

Just my opinion.
