By the way, from their behavior it's very obvious that they're 100% human spammers. So captcha's won't stop them and will only be a deterrent to REAL new members so we're coming up with some more clever ways to stop them.
I am also checking to see if we send notifications for things that have been marked as spam already, that would not be great. Thanks for the tip, forgot about the emails!
yeah, captcha was only a suggestion to inconvience had seen from the patterns that likely human.... slight annoyance for new members (but could be removed with >50 karma points??)
It's a tricky one balancing genuine users UX vs protecting them :-)
It's those first 50 karma points where people discover how great the Umbraco community is, by annoying them for each post.. it'll take much longer. :-)
I'm cooking up some things that should only affect spammers which most "normal" people won't notice! Will roll out later today and then we'll have to wait and see if it works well enough. We got rid of the kitchen spammers, I'm sure we can get rid of the love and marriage "specialist" spammers too!
Inundated with spam notifications ......
Unfortunately I've had to turn off our email notifications as recent levels of spam are making my inbox unuseable. :-(

:-( We're working hard on making the problem go away, as much as we can! Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
