Is that possible to make changes to the predefined Grid Editors? If yes, how?

We would like to edit and add a new field to the Grid Image Editor. This should not affect the existing data that's being set for the fields that using this Grid Image Editor. If this is possible, please explain in detail. Thanks in advance.
