How to limit the available Document Types in the Content Root node?

Perhaps a silly question but I havent found a solution for this.
When I select "Create" in the main root node "Content" in the Content Section, there is a combobox that shows all the existing Document Types.
Is there a way to specify the Document Types that have to be choosable by the Content Creators? Naturally, I don't want a user to create a "Inner Page" directly in the root; for example I'd like to limit him to the creation of pages based on the Homepage Document Type.
Is there anybody that has already faced this problem (and hopefully has found an easy solution?)
Set the start node for the user to your "Homepage Document Type". "Users -> Users -> Username -> Content Channel -> Start Node in Content" and choose what your user should see when he logs in.
