I have a macro that utilizes the Tags data type to populate my Meta Keywords and noticed when I change it to Textfield it ends up as a comma-delimited list. Eureka! ... or so I thought ... I could use the Tags data type for umbracoUrlAlias since those are also comma-delimited. So, in a Doc Type with two Tags data types used are not segregated, meaning my metaKeywords (Tags) and umbracoUrlAlias (Tags) are combined! Do'h!
Am I simply not understanding the usage of Tags altogether, or this a bug?
The tags datatype is mostly used for blogs. You could create a new tag datatype in the developer section with a new tag group so they won't be combined.
I didn't realize there was a tag group setting on the data type itself. I did as you suggested and as soon as I seen the "Tag group" textfield it made sense.
Oh, and, btw, it works to have umbracoUrlAlias a Tags data type!
Multiple uses for Tags data type
