Hello guys, very new to umbraco and I am following one of the video tutorials "Creating the basic structure" to be precise. Now, I kind of understand the basics of document type but I am not entirely sure why we create tabs and what they are. I had a look on the forum but I couldn't find any basic explanation and I don't seem to be able to place these "tabs" anywhere in my mental structure of things. So what are they exactly?
Hi, tabs are purely organisational, they let you group your properties on a document type into groups that make sense for your backoffice Umbraco users. They also work with document type inheritance of properties .
No worries, it depends on how many properties you have per document type. I would suggest you install one of the start kits in a clean test install to see how they are used in those.
