Is There a Way to Structure The Template?

    Hey Fourm,

I'm a bit new to this CMS, but i'm really enjoying it. I had a question that i'm not sure about and needed some help. My template is set up like this:

    http://imgur.com/uQAopjy

Having my entire website under my Master page seems like a disaster down the road. Is there something I've missed or do most projects end up looking like this?

I've also been trying to wrap my head around why would you nest any of these templates under each other rather than your master layout. Could someone give me an example of something different other than my picture up above?

    Thanks guys!

    Hi Mygel,

A master template is used so you don't need to add same markup several times, so if an element should be on ervery pages, you could with advantage added in the master page, and if you need to make changes to it you only need to make changes once.

Since you´re new to Umbraco I would recommend to take a look at this two free videos about working with a master template and master template and advanced master templates.

    http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/templating/using-master-templates/

    http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/templating/advanced-master-templates/

There is a lot of other videos that would be worth to see. That´s how I was doing it back when I started working with Umbraco. And still don´t forget to still ask questions in here at the forum. Lots of skilled Umbraco developers would love to help you. It´s the friendliest CMS community on the planet.

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis
