Like always I find answer to my question few seconds after posting the question. Seems like I use a space (" ") before the name of your document type, Umbraco will place it at the top of the list for you. Umbraco tip of the day –sort your document types Not perhaps the most sophisticated solution but it works. :)

Is it possible to sort Document Type List in Create dialog and/or make one default?

Yeah that's useful when you've got a single document type you want at the top but another way would be to prefix the name with a numeric e.g.
1. Text Page
2. Blog Post
3. Job Listing
etc
