Now I was asked to create a new slider based on the banner slider provided by the theme (but slightly smaler).
So I started by creating a document type for both the banner slider and the banner itself. Both are basically the same as the ones from the theme. The only allowed child note for the new slider is the new banner.
Then I created a Partial View called “BannerSliderSmall” and added the code to render this partial view in the themes partial view that renders all "sub-partial views".
Now I can create the new banner slider in the content section. However when I try to create a banner for this banner slider, the content is never saved. The button “Save and publish” just stays light green.
No error is shown in the browser, nothing is logged on the server (windows event viewer and umbraco log files).
Any idea what I’m missing? Or where to look for the error?
Oh and I forgot to mention that I can create content for other document types (such as the banner slider + banner I'm trying to copy) without problems. So it's probably not a permissions problem
Hi Lars-Erik,
no, there is no validation on any of the properties of the banner. (Validation can only be added in the field "validation" when you expand a property under "generic properties" , right?).
Also in the top right corner it says "Publishing..." for about a second after I click "Save and Publish". I suppose the validation would hit before that, wouldn't it?
Nope, the log doesn't say anything about an error. It only contains messages about logins and a couple of times there is somehting like this:
2015-08-19 13:14:34,014 [10] INFO Umbraco.Core.PluginManager - [T92/D4] Starting resolution types of Umbraco.Web.Trees.TreeController
2015-08-19 13:14:34,014 [10] INFO Umbraco.Core.PluginManager - [T92/D4] Completed resolution of types of Umbraco.Web.Trees.TreeController, found 4 (took 0ms)
Not sure what that means, but I'm guessing this has nothing to do with my problem (the timestamps also don't correspond with my attempts to create the content).
You're right, that's the regular "startup" log entries.
Are you familiar with the network traffic viewer in your browser? (IE & Chorme has it on F12 > Network)
Try capturing while you publish and see if you send a request at all, and if you get a 500 response.
If you get a 200 it should've been published.
If you don't send a request, there's bound to be a client-side exception. Check the console in the developer tool (F12).
Yes, you're right there is an error occuring when i try to save the content:
Error: content.tabs is undefined

Can you set the configuration\system.web\compilation\@debug attribute to true? It'll be easier to see which script fails. (You should get the same error locally, so just start the site with debugging in Visual Studio)
My bet is that you're using a property editor that creates corrupted json, or don't encode it properly. Might just be a bug in uskinned.

Problem saving content for newly created document type
Hi Forum!
we bought this theme from uskinned: https://uskinned.net/themes/source/
Cheers, Tobi
Oh and I forgot to mention that I can create content for other document types (such as the banner slider + banner I'm trying to copy) without problems. So it's probably not a permissions problem
I'm guessing you don't notice some validation error. Did you put any validation on any of your properties?
Hi Lars-Erik, no, there is no validation on any of the properties of the banner. (Validation can only be added in the field "validation" when you expand a property under "generic properties" , right?).
Also in the top right corner it says "Publishing..." for about a second after I click "Save and Publish". I suppose the validation would hit before that, wouldn't it?
It should.
Check the log file "App_Data\Logs\UmbracoTraceLog.txt" and see if there's an exception when you publish.
Nope, the log doesn't say anything about an error. It only contains messages about logins and a couple of times there is somehting like this: 2015-08-19 13:14:34,014 [10] INFO Umbraco.Core.PluginManager - [T92/D4] Starting resolution types of Umbraco.Web.Trees.TreeController 2015-08-19 13:14:34,014 [10] INFO Umbraco.Core.PluginManager - [T92/D4] Completed resolution of types of Umbraco.Web.Trees.TreeController, found 4 (took 0ms)

Yes, you're right there is an error occuring when i try to save the content:

Glad you found a solution. :)
