I've previously used a modified verison of the umbraco blog as a 'news' system, but I'm now working on a site which is going to require both the blog and a news module.
I've read all I can find on date folders, and tried to examine how they work on the umbraco blog package, but I'm still confused.
As far as I can tell, the blog adds a document type called 'DateFolder', which can use the blog template. But, the blog 'homepage' is a 'blog' document type. The only things you can create under it do not include date folders, yet when you add a new blog entry it creates all the datefolders for you.
Any suggestions on where I might learn more about datefolders, or some pointers on how to use them with other document types would be much appreciated.

Here's a link to the project, has some nice detailed info on how to setup autofolders in combo with your own document types.
Hope this helps.
