Totally agree that this would be invaluable. I'm building my first U7 now and have no idea what, if any, packages I can use. I was hoping that http://our.umbraco.org/projects/ might help, but it's erroring.
As projects are marked for a specific version, it would be awesome if there could be a filter to only show packages compatible with version X.
