    More than Content Editing

Hi, sorry if this is very basic, I have been using Umbraco for a while to simply load data onto my site and I now wonder how easy it is for me to edit the functionality of some aspects of my site via Umbraco. Specifically, I list events by channel and have a banner advert at the top of the page, I'd like to have a different banner for each channel (music, sport, cinema) that i have. Is this complicated to do? Thank you - Sandy

    Hi Sandy,

Umbraco is one of the best and simplest CMS in the world. Your tasks aren't hard to do. You can ask on this forum about how do your banners, but provide please some examples or screenshots.

    Thanks, Alex

    Hi Alex

    Thank you!

I have attached 2 JPEGs of some screengrabs of my website. The first page shows the homepage with the Live Music channel selected and the second with the Theatre (Live Shows) selected. Both of these have the top banner the same, i would like to be able to have all of these 'channels' so I could have a different banner at the top. The second page shows 2 screengrabs of Umbraco, on the second file at the bottom left are the 'channels' for different events that I would like to be able to control their content more, is this possible?

    Thank you

    Sandy

    Hi Sandy,

Beautiful site )) Of course it's possible. You can create second banner or use some conditionals in existing and depends on which node we are show needed events.

    Thanks, Alex

    Hi Alex

I'm afraid I'm a novice here. This is for the future when I have more events. I want each channel to have different banners, is this possible?

    Thank you

    Sandy

is there a book/manual on advanced use of Umbraco. I am happy inputting data but now want to start adapting how the data is displayed?

    Thank you

    Hi Sandy

The simple answer to your question is yes, you can , The actual way you do that depends on your level of knowledge f coding and Umbraco.

The best place to ask technical questions is here on the forums, if you want to get an idea of what can be possible , you can see sites like UmbLauch http://umblaunch.co.uk/ or the main Umbraco web site (http://umbraco.com/)

as for learning a bit more. I would suggest looking at the Umbraco.tv web site http://umbraco.tv/

There is a book it is a little old(but I highly recommend the authors)....http://www.amazon.co.uk/Umbraco-Users-Guide-Nik-Wahlberg/dp/0470560827 but a lot of the concepts are still valid. Best place is online for up-to-date resources and opinions. http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/editors-manual

I realise that doesn't directly answer your question but I hope it gives you a starting point
