Very new to Umbraco. I am creating a social site for runners. I plan on using Umbraco for it and wanted to know if the 'Members' section is for that purpose...?
Since there's a 'Users' section too, I'm guessing yes.
Are there links to help on this? I can't find any vids on it in Umbraco.tv
Yes the member section is indeed intended for that kind of stuff if you have a login-section on the frontend website. Users is for the Umbraco backend.
I don't know what version of Umbraco 7 you're using but you'll need to upgrade to version 7.1.1 (If you're not using it already) in order to work with members.
When creating partial view macros there should be some "member" templates for handling login etc. - I have not tried this myself yet but it said so on the blogpost of the release.
Also there is API documentation for working with the member service here. I know it's placed under "6" but it's the same thing in 6.2.0 and 7.1.
Social site characteristics questions.
