Is there any way of changing the default behavior of the Save button, so instead of having "Save and publish" as the default choice, you can have "Save" (and don't publish)
You should be able to restrict publishing option based on user settings - I suppose if you change user settings to not be able to publish but only save then the save option is the only one available.
Please feel free to add a feature request for this on the issue tracker - If you do then please also post the link to it in here so others who wish for the same and come across this post can go and vote it up :) - I'll be happy to add my vote since I think it would be a good idea too.

The editor needs the ability to publish, it's just to prevent erroneus publishings..
Aaah, you want to switch the options.
My bad - I guess you'll need to modify the core somewhere then... :)
