But I'm thinking...why do you place modules in your content tree? Sounds like mixing and matching to me...so just curious about your process and want to learn a bit more if you don't mind sharing a bit :)
To make it a lot easier for my customers, I don't just give them a richtext editor to edit the content on a page. Insted I build custom sections such as simple sections with text, text and image, gallery to more advanced sections with price tables and so on. It makes it easier for them to maintain the content.
Without list view the sections will be mixed up with sub pages, and if I enable list view, the subpages will be listed in the list view which is even more confusing.
Yeah a plain richtext editor sucks indeed since it's very error prone.
So sections are pages that can be rendered? Otherwise it might be better to make a central content repository where the different sections can be picked using a MNTP? To me it sounds like the tree is a bit cluttered if it's a mix of content pages and content elements.
Such a feature sounds pretty logical and useful to me. There should be a checkbox "Enable list view" next to each document type at "Allowed child nodetypes".
But everyone can create an issue on the issue tracker - It's not that I don't want to but it would be awesome if more people would contribute suggesting features or reporting bugs on the issue tracker since it's the way to try and influence the core team around Umbraco make improvements etc.
Both list view and child nodes
Hello everybody
Is there a way to enable both list view and child nodes?
It must be so selected child nodetypes will be listed in the list view and the remaining as sub nodes.
It would be really smart, because I often build a page with sections/modules, but the page can still have child pages (with sections/modules).
Is it someway possible to do this?
Best regards Benjamin Ravn
Hi Benjamin
Currently that scenario is not possible...

Hi Jan
Thank you for your quick answer.

I hope you can see the advantage of doing both.

The page is build with and rendered by sections, but it wouldn't make sense with a central section repository.
Petr - I'm happy you agree.
I can't see why it's either list view or child nodes - both should be possible at the same time.
Hi guys
Well maybe it could make sense to have the feature.
Who is going to file a feature request for this at the issue tracker? :)
/Jan
You're very, very welcome to add it Jan :)
Remember to set it's priority to high! ;)
If you need a reference/request person, you're welcome to add me. Do you need my e-mail or something?

I'd be happy to vote it up once created ;-)

Hi
I'm also very interested in this feature - was is it requested? I can't seem to find it.
If it hasen't been requested yet I will do it.
Hi Soren
No, I completely forgot to request this feature. You're welcome to make the request.
Hi guys,
Someone already made a feature request for this: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-4635
Perfect!
Just voted for this too ... I so need it now! :-)
is working on a reply...
