    Creating a content folder

    Hi,

I'd like to create a new "content folder" at the root of my domain, like the default 'news' folder.

    Something like:

    mydomain.tld/stories/

How would I go about doing this, as the only content type I can see is 'Text Page'.

    Thanks :)

Hi Jay and welcome to our.

You need to make a new documentype, and give it a name e.g content folder, and then allow the content folder to be avalibe to be created at the root level, or in your content stucture.

Try to see this documentation about how to work with Umbraco.

Here is some basic written documentation of working with the document types in Umbraco CMS http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Using-Umbraco/Creating-Basic-Site/Document-Types, or here is the written documentation of the basic concepts i Umbraco http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Using-Umbraco/Creating-Basic-Site/

As new to Umbraco I would recommend you to take a look at these free videos if you are more to video tutorials. These videos are showing the basic concepts of Umbraco CMS.

For your question take a look at this chapter. http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/document-types/

But, I think you will get a lot by seeing all the videos.

Hope this helps, otherview to hesitate to ask further,

    /Dennis

    Thanks Dennis :)

Unfortunately, something has gone wrong and I've somehow lost all of my template/content while trying to get it working! A completely blank page :/

It looks like I've deleted the Master/Text Page!

Think I may need to start again!

    Hi Jay,

Okay back when I started working with Umbraco, I have a setup like this, maybe it could help you too.

First I installed an empty Umbraco without any starter kit where I could build my site, and beside that I was setting up a new Umbraco installation, and on that install I install the a starter kit.

So every time I had some doubts how to do a things, then I could take a look on the installation with the Starter Kit ans see how it was done, or take a look at the videos about Umbraco, that I linked to in my previous post.

But, you are always welcome to ask your questions, in the forum, as you already have.

Hope this helps and you will be happy with Umbraco as CMS,

    /Dennis
