    Umbraco 7: Validation on non-mandatory field?

    Using Umbraco 7

    This used to work in Umbraco 4.

    In Umbraco 7, how do you validate a non-mandatory field?

    Because if you put a validation, even though you leave Mandatory unchecked, you won't be able to publish the document if the field is blank.

    Perhaps this should be reported on the issue tracker - I'm not sure whether it's done by intent or not.
