The installation also opened up a program called "Microsoft WebMatrix" This has a file view of the Umbraco source files but trying to open any of these files causes an error because the file locations don't seem to exist.
It ends up in /documents/my documents/my websites - and it's using IIS express, which is why nothing is created inside IIS. IIS express just adds a random portname to the localhost when you want to run the website.
If you go to the path above and then right click on your umbraco installation you should be able to open the website using webmatrix using the "Run website in Webmatrix" option.
I got confused initially because I forgot to look in the admninistrator account for the "my websites" folder as the logged in user folder was empty, but I got there in the end.
Where Does Umbraco Install To?
If you use the web installer where does Umbraco end up?
I can't find it under installed programs.
The URL for the site is:
http://localhost:2419/
but there's nothing created inside IIS

Hi David
It ends up in /documents/my documents/my websites - and it's using IIS express, which is why nothing is created inside IIS. IIS express just adds a random portname to the localhost when you want to run the website.

Hope this helps :)

Hi David
As long as you're getting there :) Happy you figured it out.
