Get information about content from Umbraco to another project (WC-service)

I need to get information about content (some fields value) from Umbraco. I developed an UmbracoApiController inside my project. But what the rightest way to get information from Umbraco to external project (it's a WCF-service on another server)? Maybe, should I create a WCF -service inside Umbraco?
