    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tF03jgCgV7s

this setup of pages and controls in the startpackage setup are different from the one when you install the umbraco with sample content. Were is the startpackage to be downloaded that are used in this video?

    Hi Johan,

The starter kit that you are seen in this video, lives in multiple places one place where you can find it is on the Umbraco GitHub account, you can read about the starter kits here, and it´s the one that calls Txt https://github.com/umbraco/Starterkits

The Umbraco installation contains 3 different starter kit, the newest of the starter kits, is Fanoe starter kit which has been included in the new Umbraco 7.2, but as you can see the Fanoe starter kit is not available in the install a new starter kit section yet, read about why is not there here: http://issues.umbraco.org/issue/U4-6023. But you can find the Txt starter kit and the Overflow starter kit, in Umbraco under the developer section --> pacakges you can install a new starter kit, and as I said before is it the Txt Niels are using in the video on YouTube

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

Thanks Dennis that was a nice summary! I have used the TXT a number of times now and my thought was that is is quite different in the youtube video as in real life when you use it. In the youtube video there was at least 2 powerful control that are not in the TXT you get when you download it. I thought of showing a client this youtube intro but I cannot because the controls are so very much different on specific places. I'll try to point them out and see if you recognise what I am talking about.

News node has lists in the content panel:

I mean the controls that are there are fantastic but I thought why did this even awsome controls disapear. Or is it only a configuration matter? Do they exists in my installation to but I havent found them yet?

Thanks for an awsome CMS system. The best I have seen so far :-)

    Hi Johan

I'm not sure that the TXT starter kit works like Niels is demoing out of the box.

I'll admit that I just skimmed the video so not sure if Niels at any point mentions if/what starter kit he is using.

My guess is that he has probably installed TXT as a starting point and then tweaked it to be able to show of all the nice stuff that has been added - If you pay attention the icon used for "News" they're also different in his installation and in your installation.

So I think it's simply a modified version of the TXT kit.

All the stuff demoed does exist in Umbraco you just need to modify the document and data types.

You do that in the "Settings" section and the "Developer -> Data type" settings.

For instance the last comment on the video is written by the user "Jordi" who asks about the list view stuff and answers it by telling how to activate it on the document type in the settings section :)

    Hope this helps.

    /Jan

    Hi Johan,

    Image control differ screencap 1:

In the video on YouTube Niels is using the built in media picker property editor with this one you can chosee multiple image, a folder with images, or just a single image. http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/using-umbraco/backoffice-overview/property-editors/built-in-property-editors-v7/Media-Picker In the Txt starter kit they are using the upload property editor http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/using-umbraco/backoffice-overview/property-editors/Built-in-Property-Editors/Upload. You can just chnage the property editor on the document type for the page type. See the chapter about document type here: http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/document-types/properties/

And you can find an overview of the data types here, but there have been add some new to the Umbraco 7.2, for exmaple the grid layout as you probably already know http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/using-umbraco/backoffice-overview/Data-Types/

For the next scenario in the YouTube video Niels are showing the use of adding multiple images using the media picker data type.

For the last scenario in the YouTube video Niels are showing the use of the listview feature, so child nodes are showing in at list view instead of being child nodes, this can be handy if you have a lots of child nodes. You can read about the list view here. http://umbraco.com/follow-us/blog-archive/2014/10/28/umbraco-720-beta-out-now And you will also find the option in the data type folder, in the developer section.

    Hope this helps,

    /Dennis

    Hi Johan

Hehe, thanks - You just made my day! But we're really just a part of a great community where we're standing on the shoulders of giants trying to help each other out each day on a voluntary basis :)

But I'm pleased that you like Umbraco so much and that you like the help the guys on the forum are giving you.

    Thanks!

    /Jan
