    Changing master document type

Hi, is there's anyway to change an exsisting document master?

I tried to change it in [cmsContentType2ContentType]  table (or add a new record),
however when i save the document again, the record in the DB deletd.

Of course that i also change the document parent ID in [umbracoNode] table.

    Thanks, !!!!

    Hello,

It might be possible with this package, but I don't know if it's working for Umbraco 7: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/developer-tools/doc-type-extensions

Other than that I don't think it's possbile.

...and it's not certain that this package will work if you're using Umbraco greater than v4.5 - It's seems be compiled against the .NET 3.5 framework as well and it has been reported not to be compatible with v6.1 on the package page.

As Jeroen says I don't think there is a way around it either apart from starting over with structuring your document type if possible.

Yeah you just can't do it I'm afraid. I normally have to export the old document type, rename the existing document type to name+"old", change the parent int he export xml and then import it again then change all my content nodes of that type to the new one.

it's far less painful now that we can change document types...
