Not sure if this is possible, but I want to create a multi langauge site, but avoid having seperate "trees" for each language.. i.e. I want one content tree, but being able to choose which languages I want to show for specific pages.. My site layout may be like this:
Global Home Page (english only)
-- About us (english only)
-- Histroy (english only)
-- Paris Site (english and french)
--- Details (english and french)
-- Rome (Italian and English)
-- Detials (Itlaian And English)
-- Swiss (English, German, Italian and French)
-- Details (English, German, Italian and French)
I want to avoid multiple, repeated content trees...
If you want to avoid using a content tree for each language, have you looked at Vorto ? (could use this in conjunction with a picker to indicate which languages are relevant)
Depending on which data type you should use in your project, a solution could pehaps be to have a look at the Vorto package developed by Matt Brailsford
Vorto is a property editor wrapper (meaning it wraps any existing property editor) and converts it into a multilingual property by allowing you to enter multiple values per language enabled on the site. https://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/vorto

Matt has given a demo of the package on uHangout, you can find the episode here. http://uhangout.co.uk/video/fC-Xhj1HnnU
Hope this could be a solution for you.
