Have just built a site with V7.2.2. All MVC Razor. I just happened to look in the masterpages directory and found 16 somepage.master files in there. I haven't created these, I just created views and partials. So I'm wondering what could have done this. They're all names of valid views but with .master on the end. I kind of suspect uSync or SEOChecker but am open to suggestions.
Hard to figure out what can be the cause without knowing your setup. But I'm thinking it should be safe to delete them. However make sure to make a backup of the files and the site before doing so just in case something does not turn out as expected :)

In any case, are they safe to delete?

Hi Craig,
Did you use uSiteBuilder?
I saw such masterpages when uSiteBuilder was used in the project.
Thanks
