Hi I am very new to Umbraco and the grid layout. Coming from email designing where I was used to preparing specific content boxes for editors to being able to edit stuff like images or texts, I find it very hard to get the same total controll over the look of a page using Umbraco.
For instance, if I want to let the user edit a headline which is part of customized html (see Image "About us" in the black ribbon to the left) - how on earth do I set this up using the grid editor?
It works fine for me using the editor for the other elements in the design, but as soon as I want more complex layout, I am stuck.
In addition to the written documentation, you can also find some videos that shows the basic concepts of using Umbraco, some of the videos are free to watch, and some requres that you subscribe to Umbraco. TV http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/. But you can find the different plans here: http://umbraco.tv/plans-signup/
And Tove if you aren't a developer yourself, then I think you should take contact to the people who have made the technical solution for you. I am almost sure that they would be able to help you.
HI and thanks so uch for your reply. I am a developer but new to .net. I found the plugin LeBlender with which I can create my own editors without coding, or at least it seems that the coing is restricted to if I want a bit more complex content, I can create a view to go with the editor and by that have total control over the surrounding look in that content.
So ... I'll just continue digging into Umbraco. Thanks again
How to apply this layout in the grid?
Hi

All hints are extremely welcome!

Hi Tove and welcome to our :-)
Since you are new to Umbraco I would provide you some good starting point links in using Umbraco and the grid editor.
For using Umbraco I think that you should have a look here. https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Using-Umbraco/Creating-Basic-Site/ another good article is http://24days.in/umbraco/2014/how-to-set-up-an-umbraco-site/

For working with the grid editor, try to see this documentation: https://our.umbraco.org/documentation/using-umbraco/backoffice-overview/property-editors/built-in-property-editors-v7/grid-layout and https://our.umbraco.org/Documentation/Using-Umbraco/Backoffice-Overview/Property-Editors/Built-in-Property-Editors-v7/Grid-Layout-Best-Practices
On Umbraco TV, there is some videos about the grid editor too, http://umbraco.tv/videos/umbraco-v7/implementor/fundamentals/grid-layouts
Hope this helps,
/Dennis
