    Periods removed from files uploaded to media

    I just upgraded from 7.2.0 to 7.2.5 and I've noticed that when I upload files to media, periods are stripped. This definitely wasn't happening before.

    So if I upload public-records-exemption-form.dos-119.pdf, the saved file is public-records-exemption-formdos-119.pdf which no longer fits my naming convention and makes me sad.

    I looked at the issues closed in the intervening versions and I don't see any obvious candidates for changing this.

    Questions:

    • does this happen for anyone else?
    • Is it a bug or a feature?
    • Can I make it stop?
