Okay...Please check allow at root property of the "Site 1" as given below and if unchecked checked and try again to create a copy using COPY functionality.
I can now make a copy of Site 1 and put it in the root. At this stage, I only have a one home page on each site and the both of them display correctly.
But as soon as I add a child page (using a different document type and template) to Site 2, Site 2 becomes a child page of Site 1.
Multiple site on one Umbraco instance
I've started to do this, just setting up two sites initially.
My Content tree looks like:
This gave me a home page for each site with their own templates but sharing document types and macros.
I then added a child page, Page 1, to Site 2. But when I did, Site 2 became a child of Site 1, like this:
What am I doing wrong?
Your help would be much appreciated.
Thanking you in anticipation.
Roger
Which version of umbrao you are using?
Not sure but have you used copy functionality to create the "site 2"
e.g Click on the "site 1" and click on the three dots it will show you ample of option ans select copy.
Try creating site 3 using this option and let me know if the issue is still there.
I am using version 7.2.6.
If I only have Site 1 and try to make a copy called Site 2, I cannot make it in the root, only as a child of Site 1.

Thanks, Jigar, but I still have the same problem.

Any other ideas?
what are you doctypes looks like?
can you check what is allowed doctype for "Site 1" node, it should not allow it self as child...
Site 1 node's doctype does not allow itself as a child.
Site 1 node and Site 2 node are both using the same doctype. Is that a problem?
Roger
Hi Rogers,
In that case can you share the solution if it is not that much mature and confidential?
I will try to look at it...
Thanks, Jigar
Hello, Jigar.
Thanks for offering to take a look at the solution.
How do I send it to you? The project is in my client but the database is on the operational server.
Roger
You can send it via dropbox... may be I can spend time to check on RDC.
Could we use Skype for you to take a look.
Today after 1600 UK local time?
My Skype ID is rogerwithnell
Many thanks, Jigar.
