Document Type - Renaming Property Alias (avoid data loss)
We have a situation where we would like to rename the property alias used in a document type.
Does anyone now if this means that we will loose the data stored against that property? and if so, does anyone know a way of renaming a property alias whilst preserving the data?
Whenever I have tried this in the past it hasn't been pretty. What is the reason for you needing to make this change? If it's for coding practices you could just change the name to suit the naming conventions you have used on the other properties you have created. This would make the structure appear conventional but the alias would remain unchanged.
The content editors don't see the alias, only the name.

I think you're right, changing it would be a bad idea.
The only reason we wanted to change it was to make it more generic as we have found we could probably re-use it on various document types.
I think we will just need to put up with it on this project and try 'thinking it out' a bit better next time!
Thanks
