I'd like to discuss ideas about archieving content in a smooth way.
The editors would like to hide some old content, but optionally show it and still be able to search it and look at it when necessary, preferably in the same place as it already is. Or at least in the same structure. They do not like the "date folders" option very much as it tends to make the tree cluttered - and also the content they like to archive is under several nodes / can be anywhere.
One idea is a checkbox "hide old unpublished content", which would simply hide unpublished content older than one or two months from the content tree. Or content that has some kind of "archive" flag.
Another idea is to have a "archive" tree in a separate section.
I'm curious to hear how you guys handle similar requirements.
Nice Question - I am also interested. I have played around with the checkbox idea and a different Document Type. But would be interested in other peoples feedback.
Could this be achieved by simply setting the permission option "browse" to false for the archieved (property archieved=true) documents? And then resetting it to true when the editor likes to see all the archieved documents.
Discussion, ideas: archive content
