Hi, this is rather urgent. I accidentally deleted my home page. I don't know what to do. I know I can restore it using the recycling bin, but I don't exactly know how. I thought I was able to just search the time of day, and restore it back to the version it was before I accidentally deleted. But I don't see that ability. Please help!!!
Seriously, PLEASE I am begging for help. I am frantic right now. My website is home page is GONE. Please please help! I just need to learn to restore back to what it looked like today at 1:45pm EST.
If you click on the recycle bin, and find the page that you want to restore, then click on the tree dots, and choose move. Click the on the grey text "CONTENT"
If you can't move the page, to there you need to go to the document types, choose the document type that you are trying to move outside the bin, and make sure that you have a tick in allow at root.
OK yes, I am lost still. I don't have these options. At least not that I see. I also don't even see the content which I am trying to restore. It is my whole homepage. It was listed under home page, under page components, as a text box, I think general level 2. But I don't see anything.
Is there a way to do this by time of day?
Or to go backwards, edit by edit that I made until I arrive at the edit which messed this all up?
I am going to try this, thank you!!. I am not a developer, obviously or I wouldn't ask this question. Worst case scenario, can you call me if i can't figure this out? My web developer won't answer his phone and I am in such a panic...
Assuming you are talking about the same website from your previous forum thread, it appears to be working.
When you say you "deleted the homepage", I believe what you mean is that you deleted some of the content from the homepage. If you were to have deleted your homepage, it is likely that your entire site would be broken (including every page under the homepage), but that does not appear to be the case.
If some content was deleted from a node (e.g., maybe an Archetype property), you can simply right click on the node and select "Rollback" then pick an old version of the node to rollback to. Note that this will not work if the node itself was deleted.
Can you perhaps share some screenshots of the content you think you have deleted, maybe with some annotations (arrows and such) to clarify what you mean?
Here are some general notes that may also point you in the right direction:
Try refreshing by logging out of Umbraco, closing your browser, opening Umbraco back up, and logging back in.
Look in your recycle bin. It's in the content section. You move things out of the recycle bin by right clicking them and selecting "Move".
