Umbraco Administrator died. Need to get access to admin features

    Hello Friends,

I work for a company that uses Umbraco to power a few of our websites. Recently the developer who was designated as the admin for these sites died. We now have no way to manage certain areas of our sites and update back end users access. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can fix this?

I am the client services guy, so I apologize if this request is lacking in technical background.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

    Hi Lee,

that's really sad to hear, my condoleances.

You should make sure you can get access to the database. If you can manage that, you'll find a table umbracoUser and if you look at that table you'll find a way to get access to his account (just copy your password-value into his password value).

Other option is to go to the table umbracoUser2app. Here you can add additional access to certain areas.

    Good luck, Jeffrey

    Hi Lee,

    Sorry to hear, my condolences.

If you got the rights to install a package you might want to give this one a try:

Update: It seems you can just upload the DLL from the package to the ~/bin folder via FTP.
