    Upgrading Umbraco 6 to 7

    Umbraco 8
    Umbraco 7

    Hi,

    is upgrading Umbraco 6 to 7 relatively straight forward? Are there may pitfalls?

    Does most content migrate over OK?

    Do the datatypes transfer over OK?

    Is there much work to get data rendering correctly?

    Know this question is general but would appreciate advice from people who may have run one or more upgrades from 6 to 7,

    Generally no, at my workplace any v6 to v7 sites are done as full rebuilds as generally there are quite a lot of differences between the two versions.

    Hi Damon

    It depends on a solution, if it's simple site without heavy dependency on Umbraco version it's possible to upgrade.

    Not all datatypes migrate ok, not all packages.
