You should be able to drag it back out - if you move the cursor all the way to the left, it should change to a vertical bar with arrows on each side (this is different from the OS's "resize window" cursor).

another cause for the auto hide behaviour could be a small browser window width. Have you for example used the Windows feature to arrange two windows side by side to drag and drop media items or another reason?
Umbraco 8 auto hides the sidebar, when the window width is less than 1100 pixels.

That was it. My computers monitor is portrait I accidentally zoomed in to 110% so it made it too small. Thanks
