I'm afraid that there is no e-commerce package for Umbraco 8 yet. The easiest way to make small e-commerce with Umbraco 8 would be to use something like Snipcart - https://snipcart.com/
You cant do any marketing with the free UCommerce licens, like:
Brand Management,
Differential Pricing,
Time Limited Marketing Campaigns,
Free Shipping Discount,
Unit Price Discount,
Order Total Discount,
Buy 2 Get 1 Free Discount (BTGOF),
Product Bundle Discount,
Promo Codes,
Product Promo Code,
Free Shipping Promo Code,
Free Gift Promo Code,
and so on.
And scaling up cost you atleast €2999 each year, and then you have to be bigger then a small shop.
Totally valid points there! The biggies there (for me personally) would be the lack of promo codes and discounts.
I think it comes to down to what the "small" e-commerce site is looking to achieve and what their current budget is, but that's a bit outwith the scope of the OP's question, I suppose.
At the moment though, uCommerce is the only e-commerce package suitable for V8 - but plenty of alternatives for V7 :)
We're looking into it now and the as it is now, we're planning a V7 setup with merchello. Because it's a fairly small shop. So they can have a start. This will keep them busy for a few years to come ;)
We'll see what direction Merchello will take in the future.
We are currently working hard on a v8 update, aiming for an end of year preview release. We are doing a lot of updating to bring it much more inline with how Umbraco works so it will have a great degree of familiarity for Umbraco devs.
In the meantime, we are still supporting and looking after the v7 version of Tea Commerce which you can find more on here https://teacommerce.net/.
We do have a license fee, but unlike others platforms it's a one off fee and we don't, and won't, have feature bands, meaning you pay one price and get all of the product features.
Over at uSkinned we've actually got an eCommerce theme for Umbraco :-) It's called Merch and you can find out more about it here: https://uskinned.net/themes/merch/
At the moment our themes are only running on v7 but we are working tirelessly on new themes for v8. The initial theme we launch on v8 will also have eCommerce built-in.
Ecommerce umbraco 8
What are the options of small e-commerce setup with umbraco v8?
Thanks!

The e-commerce package uCommerce appears to be compatible with V8 of Umbraco.
The demo it points to actually runs on V8, so I'd assume that it should work fine for that.
There's both a free and paid option, so plenty of flexibility for starting out small and scaling things up to suit.

Just tried uCommerce on V8, and it was an absolute nightmare... keeps crashing, no documentation, and ridiculously complicated.
I will no longer look at uCommerce as a viable solution.
I will however be looking into this:
https://www.nopcommerce.com/en/integration-of-nopcommerce-and-umbraco
might be promising :)
Hi Louis
As I know this project isn't active anymore - https://www.nopcommerce.com/en/integration-of-nopcommerce-and-umbraco
Try to use Vendr, it's a new e-commerce engine for Umbraco CMS
https://our.umbraco.com/packages/website-utilities/vendr/
Thanks,
Alex

Hey Folks,
Don't forget about Tea Commerce 😁
