It is still experimental because i haven't received any feedback about it, just some random bugs i cannot reproduce. It will stay experimental until someone wants to try it for real. I've had it running on my site for over a year and it's fine but i'm not always active on my site and it's ultra simple.
I haven't made a provider for it for v8 because i don't want it to exist. I've already made an Azure Search prototype but haven't had time to finalize it https://github.com/Shazwazza/Examine/tree/azure-search-1.0 . It does work however but I haven't had time to update post 8 launch so can't remember what state it is in. It's about 90% there with some know issues like range queries wont work (yet... since Azure Search implements that differently).
Also another Umbraco user has taken this branch is working on an Elastic Search provider and he says he's very close.
examine blob storage in v8
Possibly one for Shannon, however is azure blob storage of examine / lucene production ready in 8? I know for 7 it was still experimental.
