Installing Umbraco 9 — project template not available
Hi,
I'm trying to install Umbraco 9 for the first time using the instructions in the documentation. I've installed VS2019 (was previously on 2017) and gone to File > New > Project but when I search for umbraco in the dialog it doesn't find anything. I've ensured that "Show all .NET Core templates in the New project dialog" checkbox is checked as per this article and have restarted VS.
Have you maybe missed installing the templates? Under the "New Project" heading on the documentations you are following, there's this note:
To install Umbraco we first need to install Umbraco's dotnet new templates. For more information check the first 2 steps of Install Umbraco with .NET CLI.
That links here and describes how to get the templates installed.
Ah-ha! Thanks Andy. I'd not got that far down the instructions just yet, but you're absolutely right, I've not done that step. I'll skip the abbreviated instructions and use the full instructions, which would be a much more sensible thing to do, in retrospect! :)
