When changing the TargetFramework to net5.0 in the project file, then the site works as expected through IIS.
Any help with what is wrong/missing for it to work, will be greatly appreciated.
If the accepted fix doesn't work for you, there's a breaking change in .NET 6
that can be resolved with the following (Verified on umbraco -v11 and .NET 7):

Umbarco 9 works as .net 5 only
For clarity, the project needs to be targeted at .Net 5 but it will run on .Net 6 runtime.
Hi Kieron.
We are running our Umbraco 9 projects on .NET 6.
I dunno if theres something behind it. But our projects are targeting .NET 6.
It seems to be related to the razor view engine somehow. I can get it working by changing RazorCompileOnBuild to true.
