If you go to the 'Settings' section and look at the 'Structure' tab of the your home page document type, there should be a checkbox to allow that document type to be created at the root ('Allow at root'). Ensure this is checked and you should then be allowed to copy your home node.
Go to the developer settings --> Document Types. Then find the document type for your frontpage. Click on that and choose the structure tab, and set a tick in Allow at root.
When you have done that, reload the nodes in the Content section, then you should be able to create a copy of your website for translation.
