    Umbraco 7 MVC Documentation

    Hi,

I am just starting to use umbraco 7 MVC for my web projects and I am totally new to this CMS. So I have registered to umbraco TV and watched and followed all the video tutorials but still I need to learn more and there is no specific documentation for this newer version. For example extending back office like creating new section adding trees and lot others... I have been looking for the documentation but most of them are for older version. Could someone please tell me where can i find a good documentation or ebook to follow as I have chosen this CMS and the project deadline is quite limited.

    Thanks

Hi Kishan and welcome to our,

As you already said the Umbraco TV is a good start to learn the basic of the Umbraco CMS. Bu you´re looking for more documentation for MVC in Umbraco.

Here is some documentation about the MVC part in Umbraco: http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Reference/Templating/Mvc/ and here is a written part of how to build a site in Umbraco: http://our.umbraco.org/documentation/Using-Umbraco/Creating-Basic-Site/

You are talking about that you are need some documentation on how to create a new section in Umbraco 7. For this take a look a these two blogposts from Markus Johansson, I think this could be a good starting point on how to do it.

    http://www.enkelmedia.se/blogg/2013/11/22/creating-custom-sections-in-umbraco-7-part-1.aspx

    http://www.enkelmedia.se/blogg/2013/11/22/custom-sections-in-umbraco-7-%E2%80%93-part-2-the-views.aspx

Or here is some other blogpost that may help you. http://antao.github.io/development/2013/12/29/creating-umbraco-7-custom-section.html

Hope this helps, and happy Umbraco coding.

    /Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

Thanks for quick response, yup i will looked into this now. But i would love to have full documentation in umbraco community forum which i can rely on instead of looking into diffent blogs or post, as I know umbraco 7 has just released but it would be great if it rather support documentation for developers as well.

    Cheers

    Hi Kishan,

I understand as new to Umbraco is would great to have full documentation in umbraco community. But the documentation for Umbraco are basicly written by the communtiy memebers, in there spare time and of course because they love Umbraco. So I think that we all do what we can do make it easier to start with the Umbraco CMS by using the Umbraco TV, or the documentation there are on the communtiy.

As you already has discovered, at good place to asking if you have any questions related to Umbraco is the communtiy, we are many in here there will try to do our best to help, where we can, and do be afraid to ask your questions, Umbraco is the friendliest CMS community on the planet, and you will probably find out when you have asked a question for the most time you will get an answer in very short time.

But as I said before it is the community members there are written match of the documentation that you find here on the community. Which brings me to the next, as you probably know the Umbraco CMS is open source which means that there are several way to contribute to the Umbraco project.

One way to contribute to the Umbraco project is by helping people with their questions in the community, as I just did :-). But there are other ways to contribute to the Umbraco project. http://our.umbraco.org/contribute If you click the link you will see different ways tocontribue, and as you can see one of the is by helping written the documentation.

And in the end I think that we all want to do what we can to contribue, so we can get a better Umbraco CMS, than we already have :-)

Hope that you will love the Umbbraco CMS as mutch as I did.

    /Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

This is wonderfull, I really liked what you have just said about helping as a community member. It is a privilege to be a part of this community and help umbraco community grow. I would definetely contribute my part and i am sure i will have lot of other questions coming in near future. I already started loving this and hope it will be more productive for my apps in future.

    Thanks
