uaas-cli synced changes on dev server not committed to git

Hi i'm working on an umbraco cloud project. I'm on a windows machine and using IIS to run a local copy of the website. I'm making my edits in VS Code and pushing changes to our dev site with git.

My colleague is on a mac and is using uaas-cli to work with the dev server. When he saves a file locally it is synced to the dev site but the change is not committed to git. I can then push changes without conflict overwriting his changes. The dev site could be in a messy state until he actually pushes with git.

I initially though that the cli would let him see the content from the dev site locally but not actually sync his template changes at every save, only when he git pushed!

He could make a local change to a template. That could appear on the dev site but presumably if we did a deploy to live that change wouldn't be pushed.

Any one else think it's weird?
