    404 Error on server after Forms deployment

    Umbraco Forms

    Hi there,

    I do all my development locally but carrying out a Visual Studio publish to server.

    I have Umbraco Forms working locally, licence purchased and applied. When access Umbraco Forms I receive a load of red Request error: The URL returned a 404 (not found). errors. Looking in Chrome I see a load of 404 errors. (see below)

    Any help much appreciated!

    I published in debug mode, no difference apart no DependancyHandler.axd errors. :-(

    Hi John

    You've maybe solved this by now, but I've got the same problem - and it turned out that the Umbraco Forms DLLs was missing on the server.

    • \bin\Umbraco.Forms.Core.dll
    • \bin\Umbraco.Forms.Web.dll

    They were ignored by a full web deploy (to Azure), but right-clicking and publishing each of the files in VS did the trick.

    I'm using Umbraco 7.5.7 and was installing Forms 4.4.0 from the Forms menu by pressing the button there, when running locally.

    No problem, John! I didn't really expect a reply. :-)

    But, for the record, lately I have learned that the backend button is NOT the best way to install Umbraco Forms. At least if you're using Visual Studio, source control and remote publishing. (It will work well for Umbraco Cloud.)

    So the real solution here is to install the NuGet package UmbracoForms. Then all files will be included and handled as they should.

    Same problems experienced with UmbracoForms 7.0.4 using Visual Studio and Web Deploy. Many UmbracoForms files were excluded by the project and not published. I confirm what Vidar say: installing Forms via NuGet is the best practice. Everything is automatically included in that case.
